Have we got aliens?

Hi Every one,

Its me again, ssshhhh, we must be very quiet, I think the men in yellow coats could be aliens! They have been back, on and off, for the past week and have been digging trenches and building all sorts of weird things in my garden, I'm not entirely sure, the head alien 'Danny' is really nice and seems to have a doggie of his own and the worker aliens all seem OK, but why would they steal my garden and start building stacks of things with floppy bits on the top on this huge concrete base.

They dug a really deep wide trench right outside my kitchen door, I think to try to keep me away from their building, but remember my hunky friend Boris. Well he taught me how to jump ditch's, see I told you my new skills would be important. Because of Boris' teaching, the trench trap didn't work and I've been able to keep any eye on the aliens when daddy lets me out.

The aliens have a big orange thing, which revolves and needs feeding regularly with all sorts of powdered food. It obviously doesn't like what ever the yellow coats feed it as it seems to be sick regularly, which seems to please the yellow coats! very odd when I'm sick I don't like it and
mummy and daddy certainly don't like it.

We have these big stacks going up with black bits flapping at the top, I think they are transmitters, calling other aliens to my garden, because the yellow coats have been joined by men in all sorts of outfits who feed the orange thing and use its sickly stuff to hold the stack things together.

I've discovered that the best way to deal with all of this alien disruption is to take to my bed and keep my head down, they come into my kitchen occasionally to make coffee and tea but I've decided to stay aloof from it all just to keep an eye on it all and report to you if I see anything else. No space ships yet, but maybe they haven't finished the transmitters yet or just not made contact with the big orange ship in the sky. So I'll leave you with a picture of me all snuggled down being aloof.

I'll write again soon lots of love Becka xx

Who stole my garden

Hi everyone,

Some one stole my garden.

A week ago it looked like this, just as I remember it, see that's me in the foreground. You see the garden, bird bath, rose bed, steps lots of things to run around, play on and jump off of. Then the men in yellow coats arrived they made lots of noise knocked the wall down at the front and brought in a big metal monster with a long arm on the front of it. It wasn't a car as it didn't have wheels, it had sort of long track type feet.

The monster dug lots of holes in my garden and the men in the yellow coats ran up and down to the front with my garden in big wheeled things, by the time I was allowed back out into the garden, it was gone. it now looks like this.

I don't know if you can see it very well, but there is a big hole in the second picture which the boss yellow coat man, who I've since discovered is called Danny and is really nice (he gives me biscuits) was worried that I might fall into. No need to worry though I'm way to bright to make that mistake, unfortunately, Daddy wasn't and he fell into it in the first night. Must have hurt because he didn't shout a lot, just groaned and took a long time to stand up and climb out.

I took him for a walk the next morning though and he seemed alright. Actually the next morning most of the stolen garden was outside the front of the house, but its gone now, so if any of you are approached by the men in yellow coats trying to sell you a garden, let me know because its ours.

I'll keep you posted as to whats going on because they haven't stopped at stealing the garden, half the courtyard outside the kitchen has gone too. I've got the photographs, but Mummy hasn't uploaded them from the camera yet, not sure what that means, but that's what Daddy said.

Watch this space for updates, love Becka. xxx

Weekend in Suffolk

Hi Every one,

Just a quick note to tell you about out trip to Suffolk a couple of weekends ago, Mummy Daddy and me all packed into the car and went away to a house we had never been to before in Suffolk, I don't know what a Suffolk is, but it was a very long way away, it took ages to get there. Actually I'm not sure how long it took because I was sleepies most of the time, but it was very dark when we arrived at the house.

The new house seemed quite nice, but the garden wasn't as big as mine and it was very cold in the house when we arrived. But about an hour after we arrived Sharron, Gary and Boris arrived Great, me and Boris went out into the garden to play my jaws are bigger than yours, we like this game it involves a lot of pushing and shoving and rolling over each other. The only problem was the lawn quickly turned into a mud bath and we got very dirty. Mummy Daddy Sharron and Gary were not terribly happy when we eventually came in and made all the kitchen and entrance area really dirty. They don't seem to understand that we are doggies its part of what we do.

When we went to bed that night, Boris and I carried on playing in the kitchen which was very unpopular and caused Gary a very sleepless night he came down several times and scolded us for being too noisy, were doggies, we do noisy as well as dirty! Anyway we decided to play a bit quieter which involved eating the edge of one of the panels on the kitchen door. Now as you know I do this regularly at home, but for some reason this was different and Boy did we get into trouble for it when every one came down from upstairs.

We went for a very long walk in the morning and practiced more ditch jumping I'm getting quite good at this now, we saw hares (not worth chasing those they are way too quick) a 'little owl' and lots of pheasants, one of which took off from a bush right next to me, scared me a lot so I stayed close to Boris after that. Ditch jumping was such fun even Mummy and Sharron tried it, neither of them were very good at it more ditch stepping really with Daddy in the ditch holding their hands and Gary on the other side catching them. Sharron didn't like it but Mummy cried. Daddy made a big fuss of her and said she was very brave.

We went through a 'Ford' which is a river running over the road, now remember I was staying close to Boris at this stage, on account of being frightened by the big bird, well this was one of those times when staying close to the big dog was a mistake, you see in all that water I couldn't see the ditch on the side of the road and suddenly fell into a hole where Boris right next to me was stood on firm ground. Now I don't like water a great deal and this was freezing, but after I had climbed out and shaken off most of the water Daddy made a big fuss of me and told me I was very brave as well.

We went to the beach in the afternoon and Mummy and Daddy saw a Barn Owl hunting in a field right next to the car, I was sleepies again by this time in the back of the car With a big walks in the morning and the beach in the afternoon, actually two beaches a pier (which came with a bag of chips yum) and a walk around a town, by the time we got back to the new house and Daddy lit the fire all Boris and I wanted to do was sleep. That evening and the next morning, Daddy waved a magic wand over the damage to the door (actually he waved some filler, sand paper and stain that they had bought in the morning, over it, but we all humoured him about the magic wand) and to be fair all the teeth and claw marks disappeared.

This is me and Boris next to the door in question, you wouldn't believe that we would be naughty would you, we had another long walk the next morning, but then we had to pack up and go, Mummy Daddy Sharron and Gary cleaned the house as if was their own and we packed up the cars and headed off home. A nice policeman took a lovely photograph of Daddy in the car on the way home, but Daddy didn't seem very pleased about it, they sent it to him and asked for his autograph and everything but he didn't seem very impressed, I'm confused again!

Next time I will explain why ditch jumping became very important. Write soon!

New Year and a New Game!

Hi Its me again,

When I last wrote Mummy Daddy and me had just packed up my car and were leaving Nanny and Grandad in Margate and heading off to see Sharron, Gary and Boris in Cambridge. I'm not sure where Cambridge is, but then I'm not sure where anything is except home, cos that's where I live, but it seemed quite a long time in the back of the car. I did get the chance for a bit of a rest though, because I'd had a big run that morning on the beach and it was really cold, so the warmth and comfort of my car was very nice.

When we got to Cambridge, Boris and I got reacquainted in the back garden while Mummy, Daddy, Sharron and Gary got together in the house, Boris and I had great fun in the garden, then Daddy and Gary took us out together for a walk across the fields, it was really wet and muddy, which I am a bit doubtful of (I am a girl after all!) but Boris was into every muddy puddle and stream available. I did follow him into one or two, but breaking through the ice, just to get wet is not quiet the fun that Boris seems to think it is. He does however have a much thicker coat than mine and he is much more of a country dog than me so he is used to it. The pictures below are after we got back and dried off, although I did try to get onto the sofa but, Daddy told me very sternly that I was not allowed and I had to settle for stealing Boris' bed instead, he had mine though, so it was all fair

Another couple called Julie and Paul turned up later in the evening and Boris and I were left to our own devices in the sitting room, we did get to escape a couple of times during the evening and check out the great smells coming from the kitchen and to go outside and play some more, we even managed to sneak a few treats from Gary and Sharron, which Mummy and Daddy pretended to ignore, but they knew really! We all had a really late night that night, seems its the one time in the year everyone is expected to stay up past midnight (seems that midnight is when both hands on the clock point up at the same time and its dark outside) I have no idea what time everyone finally went to sleep as I took to Boris' bed and dozed off before everyone had finished.
The next day Boris and I were up and about early as usual but not everyone was their usual lively and cheerful selves, Gary was fine, Daddy was alright, Mummy was 'very tired', but Sharron was very ill (several times) actually in dogie terms she was as sick as a person. Boris, Gary, Daddy and me went out for a walk while Mummy and Sharron went back to bed, according to Daddy they were lightweights, but they looked the same weight as the day before, can anyone explain please.

Anyway the four of us went off on a glorious bright sunny and cold morning for a walk across the fields, we had even had a little dusting of snow just to make it look really pretty. Daddy and I had never been across the fields in this direction, but Boris seemed to know exactly which way we were heading. We were playing chase across this open field, actually I was chasing him and I had him trapped as the edge of the field had a deep ditch which was in his way. I was closing in to pounce on him, when suddenly without breaking stride he leapt across the ditch on to the other side, leaving me scrabbling to a halt on my side, peering into the ice filled ravine below, ravine is possible a bit strong but it was a long way down and there was ice on the top of the water, honestly there was!

Having made me look very silly on my side of the ditch, Boris came back to the other side and nonchalantly bounded across the gap from a standing start, he'd done this before! Boris walked over to where I was standing and looked across the gap with me almost willing me to have a go. Well I may be a bit precious about a lot of things, but I was not going to be left out of this ditch jumping game, it seemed like a lot of fun. I had a little run up and leapt into the air, to my delight and amazement I landed safely on the other side and that was it i discovered I was a natural, I can't leap as far as Boris from a standing start, but he is more practised than me, but we had great fun running and jumping from one field to the next across every ditch we could find, it was so exciting. We were out a very long time, when we got back both Mummy and Sharon reappeared Mummy was not as tired and Sharron was feeling 'almost human again'. daddy checked on the map and although he seemed to think we had, we actually hadn't walked out of the county!
Boris and I sent Mummy and Daddy, Sharron and Garry out for the rest of the day so we could get some rest and he need to dry off, what is this need to jump into every frozen stream and puddle he can find! I just don't understand it, I can see the need to cool your paws off occasionally, but bounding through ice covered streams up to your sensitive bits in freezing water, really there is no need for it. We stayed with Sharron and Gary until the next day when we all got up really early, Sharron had to go and do umpire tennis things and we had to get home, by the time we got home the exertions of playing chase, push, pull, my mouths bigger than your mouth and ditch jumping, for two days, with a dogie half as big and heavy again as I am, had taken its toll and as soon as Mummy had put a clean cover on my bed I curled up and slept for about a day and a half, only getting up for trips to my food bowl, the garden and lifting my leg to have my tummy rubbed, I love having my tummy rubbed. this is me in the Boris recovery position

I'll write again soon.

Hello everyone,

It's me again, last time I was here I was talking about Christmas and I mentioned going to see Nanny and Grandad later in the holidays, well we had a quiet day after everyone went home, then we packed the car up and went to Margate, that's where nanny and Grandad live. Nanny and Grandad have a bungalow like Mummy and Daddy's (this is a house without stairs, which is great because I'm not allowed up stairs), but nanny and Grandad's bungalow is near the beach!

I'd seen the beach before, but I'd forgotten how much fun it can be, big areas of brown stuff called sand, which comes in soft stuff which gets up your nose and sort explodes when you pounce on it and hard wet stuff which is great for running really fast on. At the end of the sand there are sometimes rocks, but eventually there is always this huge wet bit (Mummy and Daddy call this wet bit the sea). I'm really not keen on the wet bit, I've run through it playing with some friends, but unless there is a reason to be in their why does every one think its fun to get wet all over. I don't even like the rain when it's really heavy. Some doggies just run in and lie down in it! Why! every time I put my paws in there its freezing.

The beach however, is great fun it is full of all sorts of really interesting doggie things to play with, rocks, old shoes, discarded balls, dead fish, you get the idea. the smellier the better for me. Mummy particularly thinks this is horrid, but Daddy doesn't seem to mind too much, which is strange really, as all this excitement and the dead fish particularly can upset my tummy and Daddy does all of the clearing up. He must really love me.

We spent three days at Nanny and Grandad's and I had a lovely time, my favorite moment though was on the first night we were there all Daddy's family came over for dinner they brought with them Oliver who is Daddy's four year old great nephew. Now Oliver is not really very keen on doggies normally, but he seems to like me a lot, you see I can be a little bit picky about my food, particularly if I think there is something better on offer (being something Mummy and Daddy might be eating). I didn't eat my dinner that first night at Nanny and Grandad's as I didn't want to spoil my appetite for any leftovers that may be on offer. However, they are such a hungry mob of people that there wasn't any thing left for me, so they said. I tried sulking but still no tit bits, Oliver however took pity on me and hand fed me my dinner from my bowl.

Firstly Oliver was putting the pieces on the floor in front of me, but as we both got used to the idea he was handing me the bits and I was taking them from his fingers, much more dignified than having to stick my nose in the bowl and help myself, you see I was born to be pampered. After dinner I went into the hall where my bed was and laid down quietly, but I couldn't go off to sleep because of all the noise coming from the dining room, but my friend Oliver came to my rescue again, seeing I was tucked up in my bed he assumed that I was waiting for a story before I went to sleepies, so he went and got one of his favorite books and read me a story. Now Nanny has since told me that Oliver can't read, but he sat along side my bed cross legged with his book and told me a story that made perfect sense to me, he was turning the pages and everything, so I'm not convinced that Nanny has got that not reading bit right. Anyway it worked because I drifted off to sleep while he was still telling me the story.

We had a lovely few days at Margate, then on New Years Eve we all packed the car up again and went of to see Gary Sharron and Boris! in Cambridge for a few days, you remember Boris he's my Hunky doggie friend. Sorry no pictures this time, but we will have some from the trip to see Boris, he taught me how to ditch jump. Really exciting.

Write again soon, lots of love.

Didn't we have fun!

Hi everyone,

Well Christmas is over, when does it happen again, it was great! It started out very quietly with just Mummy and Daddy on the big day, we had a very nice walk in the morning then had something called smoked salmon and scrambled eggs for breakfast. Not sure what the eggs were, but Daddy sneaked me some of the smoked salmon, Wow how good was that! Mummy and Daddy also had something called Champagne with theirs but I wasn't allowed any of that, apparently I'm too young (I probably would have swapped it for more of that smoked salmon stuff though). Later in the day we had presents, apparently these were from Father Christmas, but Mummy and Daddy seem to know what was in all of mine, perhaps he's a friend of theirs, nice man though, he brought loads of stuff to our house.

The next day we had all the family come over, my sisters Natalie and Caroline with their boy friends and my brother Russell with his son Jake. Jake is my favorite, you see he is only three and is usually to be found clutching a cocktail sausage or something equally tasty. I discovered in the summer when we had a party for Caroline, that if you follow these little people around patiently they either drop the tasty stuff on the floor, so you can snaffle it, or they just feed it to you anyway. You have to be particularly careful when taking food of the little people because they scare easily and if you scare them then they stop feeding you and one of the big people will shout at you. I worked this out ages ago and I'm very gentle so I get lots of stuff from Jake that Mummy and Daddy don't know about.

During all of the following and hoovering up of the buffet (seems a buffet is where the table gets covered in food and everyone helps themselves, get your Mummy and Daddy's to try this you will love it) we had even more pressies seems Father Christmas got confused and delivered things all over the place. This Father Christmas chap must be very busy and a really nice man because he brought me even more on the second day than he did on the first. I'm still chewing my way through treats and toys now and as for the pressies he left for everyone else it was amazing how much stuff there was. I did disgrace myself a little bit though, you see not only does Jake drop tasty stuff on the floor, but he also left some toy cars around and a metal VW Beetle was just too good to resist, trouble was it made a big crack! as the roof collapsed. Jake didn't seem too worried as you can see from the picture he was happy with something called chocolate, seems I'm not allowed that either as its bad for me. Mummy and Daddy were just a wee bit stern rather than really upset, so it couldn't have been too bad.

As you can see in the last photograph I was watching very carefully to make sure I didn't miss anything whilst all the pressies were being opened. I'll write again soon, a day or so after all the pressies and everyone had gone home again, we went to see Daddy's, Mummy and Daddy apparently they are my Nanny and Granddad, I'm still not entirely clear how this works, but they are the ones who like airports remember? Well they have a beach which is very exiting. I'll tell you all about it next time.

Lots of love and Mummy and Daddy said to say Happy New Year, whats a year?

What's in a name?

Hi every one,

Its nearly Christmas and at some stage over the holiday I'm going to see my friend Boris, he lives with his Mummy and Daddy close to Cambridge, he is a Ridgeback and Mastiff cross, a real hunk! This is us the last time I went to visit him, now you may be wondering why I asked the question 'Whats in a Name' well I don't understand, that I know Mummy and Daddy as Mummy and Daddy, but Boris know them as Lesley and Paul, weird why is that? Likewise Boris knows his Mummy and Daddy as Mummy and Daddy but I know them as Sharon and Gary, why do Mummy's and Daddy's have two names. I'm confused.

The real reason for the question though is, when we are all together, why does our two names cause so much laughter amongst our Mummy's and Daddy's and all their friends, what is funny about two dogs called Boris, Becka can anyone tell me. I think its something to do with Sharon being a Wimbledon tennis line judge, but as I don't know what tennis is I'm only guessing.

Boris' Mummy and Daddy are different from mine, you see he is allowed to sleep on the furniture at home, probably because he is so big he sort of sleeps where he wants, but my Mummy and Daddy have, on the other hand, banned me from all the furniture and beds in the house. When I last visited Boris, however I discovered the delights of the sofa and despite the fact that his Mummy and Daddy can't move him off his favorite spot on the couch, he was willing to give it up for me, thats real Girl Power! That's my bed that he curled up on below me, I think this is where I should be, but Mummy and Daddy disagree, so once I got home it was back to the bed on the floor. I'm really looking forward to going to see Boris again!

We are preparing for Christmas at home, we have a big tree in the lounge! I sort of remember this from last year, doesn't smell much like a tree though, at least not like any of the trees outside. Father Christmas is coming again this year, I remember him from last year although I never got to meet him he brought me lot's of nice pressies, chewy things, toys and some really tasty treats. Apparently I have to have been a good girl or I don't get pressies, and you will remember I did chew big lumps out of the kitchen a little while ago, but we had some more snow recently (remember I told you about snow) and Mummy and Daddy like to watch me play in the snow so I may have redeemed myself. I think I have, Mummy and Daddy seem to have very short memories when I'm naughty, which is lucky. I'll let you know what I get for Christmas in the New Year. Hope you all have a super time I know we will Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all.

Love Becka XXXX
